as the last stop of their europe tour, we hosted yeti out for a final club night in oslo. what became a night to remember, how we marketed the happening really cemented its significance. the concept was inspired by the philosophy behind the yeti out crew:
“those who dance appear insane to those who cannot hear the music”
in our universe, we imagined a fictive radio show called the never ending chase. the show was hosted by micheal angeles, (which in reality connected all the dots to make this happen) a retired yeti hunter. after years and years of chasing, he figured out it was never about finding the actual yeti, but the chase itself. this was the ethos of the show: enjoy the process. on the show, he had callers telling him about their experiences, chases, thoughts, he would talk about what was on his mind, and of course, play the best music for hunting. and on some rare occasion, mike would host a yeti convention. a gathering for likeminded people, for everyone that actually hear the music. in reality, our physical event. we created a world which you could attend.
to promote the event, we made a poster inspired by citizen band radio calling cards, popularized in usa in the 70s. in the design, you see mike sitting on his camper van, scouting the horizon for yetis.
we also did a tee, where we put this design on the front. on the back, we did a design which captured the whole idea of the never ending chase. as mike is looking through his binoculars on the front, the back is his point of view. at first glance, it just looks like a trail through the forrest, but the contour of the forrest resemblances a running yeti. with the head being the sun. a stare into forever, an idea of peace.
to further promote the event, we made three short videos. here we teased the actual radio show, and gave people the very first look at the tee.
the last part of the promotion was psychical posters. finders keepers, if you found it, you could grab it.
